FAQ

Common questions

Which calculator tells me the right lot size for my risk?

The position size calculator answers that. Enter your account balance, the percentage you are willing to risk, your stop distance in pips and the pip value for gold, and it returns the lot size that keeps the loss inside your limit. Start there before touching any other tool.

How do I work out the margin a gold position will tie up?

Use the margin calculator. It takes the lot size, the XAU/USD price and the leverage cap that applies to the entity serving Kenya, then returns the amount locked as collateral. For reference, a 0.10-lot position needs about $85.50 at that cap, which gives you a sense of scale.

What is the difference between the pip value and the profit calculator?

The pip value calculator tells you what one pip of movement is worth at your lot size, which is the building block for every other sum. The profit calculator goes further and converts a full price move, entry to exit, into money. Use pip value for stops and profit for targets.

Can these tools tell me where to place a stop or target?

No, the pivot point tool only plots reference levels from the prior session's high, low and close, and the other calculators only do arithmetic on numbers you supply. They show what a level or a stop would cost you; they do not recommend entries. The judgement is yours.

Do the calculators handle gold's pip definition correctly?

Yes, they are built for XAU/USD specifically: one standard lot is 100 oz and one pip is 0.01. That matters because gold does not use the same pip convention as currency pairs, and a tool built for forex pips will give you the wrong lot size and the wrong margin figure.
